Congratulations to a couple local players who got drafted by Major League Baseball squads.
Effingham’s Josh McDevitt — a pitcher for the Missouri Tigers of the SEC — was picked in the 4th round by the Arizona Diamondbacks. The 6’2 product had a 4.5 ERA this past season.
And Shelbyville’s Ty Brachbill was picked in the 14th round by the San Diego Padres. The pitcher who started at Northern Illinois, competed at High Point his season and finished with an ERA of 3.59 in 90 innings pitched. He added 81 strikeouts.
