Senior League baseball

Theyโ€™re in.

In Peru, the Illinois Valley Senior League ballclub punched its ticket to the championship of its own Central States Region Tournament with a resounding 13-0 victory over the Ohio state champions Tuesday at Washington Park.

Jack Hermes (4 IP, 0 R, 3 K) relieved by Johnathon Kamnikar (1 IP, 0 R, 0 K) combined on the two-hit shutout. They received plenty of run support, led by Blake Hueneberg (two singles, four RBIs), Aden Pantoja (single, two RBIs), Espen McFadden (triple, one RBI) and Trent Schinkey (single, three runs scored).

Thursdayโ€™s championship is scheduled for a 10 a.m. first pitch. Being in the catbird seat, Illinois Valley, with a loss, would have the opportunity to play a winner-take-all, early-afternoon game for the title if it lost the Thursday morning ballgame.

Minor League softball

In Milan, the La Salle 10-Year-Old All-Stars were defeated in the Illinois Minor League State Tournament championship game on Tuesday night, 12-9.

La Salleโ€™s 10s got off to a hot start, scoring six runs in the bottom of the first inning, but surrendered a five-run top of the third and three-run fourth to fall behind and could not rally.

La Salle finishes its all-star postseason run with a record of 9-3 and second in the state.

Junior League baseball

The Illinois Valley 14-Year-Old All-Stars fell in the Illinois Junior League State Tournament, suffering a 7-0 shutout at the hands of Burbank American on Tuesday.

CJ Urbanski, Gavin Schmollinger, Corbin Rodriguez and Connor Dobrydnia each singled for Illinois Valleyโ€™s four hits. Jacob Pantoja (4 IP, 5 ER, 2 K) was dealt the pitching loss, relieved by Henry Wick (3 IP, 0 ER, 2 K).
