Tinley Park Sports Dome Collapses In Storms – Patch

TINLEY PARK, IL — A newly erected sports dome in Tinley Park was toppled by storms Monday afternoon, as seen by residents in the area.

The Interstate Sports Dome, located at 7600 W. 191st St. and also known as the I-80 Sports Dome, was seen collapsed after Monday’s storms. The facility’s owners confirmed the damage via social media.

The 142,000-square-foot dome—which has not yet opened to the public—sits on a 42-acre development on the former Gray Stone Golf Course. It’s set to feature six 127-foot by 110-foot fields along with twenty, 70-foot batting cages.

“Today, severe weather, including tornado-force winds, swept through the Tinley Park area. Unfortunately, during this storm, the Interstate Sports Dome sustained significant damage,” reads a message from the facility’s owners shared on social media. “Most importantly, **no one was injured**, and we are incredibly grateful that everyone is safe.

“As we move forward, our team is already working with urgency to assess the damage and begin the process of getting the Interstate Sports Dome back up as quickly as possible. While this is certainly an unexpected setback, it doesn’t change our commitment to bringing the best indoor sports experience to our community.

“We appreciate everyone’s patience, support, and understanding during this time. We’ll continue to share updates as we move forward, and we look forward to welcoming everyone as soon as we’re able.”
