The Illinois Valley Senior League baseball team’s World Series run ended Tuesday with an 11-1, five-inning loss to South Carolina District 1.

Illinois Valley struck first with a run in the top of the second inning. Espen McFadden led off with a single to center field. McFadden advanced to second on a passed ball and went to third on a groundout before scoring on a fielder’s choice by Trent Schinkey.

Illinois Valley managed just one more hit the rest of the way, Emmitt Olson leading off the fifth with a single.

South Carolina District 1 tied the game with a run in the bottom of the second then scored two runs in the fourth before ending the game with an eight-run fifth.

Johnathan Kamnikar was the losing pitcher for Illinois Valley, which was the first District 20 Senior League team to advance to the World Series.
