While all the hype is well deserved for the 2026-27 season, Illinois is making moves positioning itself for one of the top players in the class of 2028.
5-star power forward Benjamin Berrouet announced this week that he received an offer from the Illini.

247 has Berrouet as the top power forward in the 2028 class, the third-best player in Texas, and the 14th-best nationally. Not bad.
And according to 247’s Kyle Tausk, he’s lighting it up on the summer circuit.
Since BU will likely have a lot of roster turnover after the 2027 season, not a bad time to position yourself for a future star like this.
Of note, he already has many offers, including from in-state powers Texas and Houston. But Illinois is once again a national brand and can certainly be in this conversation.
