High school athletic trainer charged for inappropriate relationship with student, deputies say – KWQC

LEE CO., Ill. (KWQC) – A high school athletic trainer was charged after deputies said she had an inappropriate relationship with a student.

In June, the DeKalb County Sheriff’s office got a report that an athletic trainer at Indian Creek High School was having an inappropriate relationship with a student, according to a Facebook post.

Officials learned that the Lee County Sheriff’s Office had jurisdiction and the investigation began.

On Wednesday, officials said, Christina Payton, 27, of Creston, turned herself into the Lee County Sheriff’s Office on the following charges:

• Four counts of official misconduct, felony
• Four counts of distribution of harmful material to a minor, felony
• Four counts of distribution of harmful material to a minor, a misdemeanor

Payton was released and has a court date set for Aug. 27.
